David Brewer began giving blood in the 1970s as a student at Broome Community College, and has never stopped.

Brewer’s first blood donation was during a Red Cross blood drive at the college’s Student Union in between his classes. Brewer did not stop giving blood after college, and signed up to give blood whenever he was able.

In the 40 years since that first donation, Brewer has donated 129 pints of blood, which is the equivalent to 16 gallons.
