Over 30,000 lives have been saved or improved thanks to big hearted West Lothian blood donors.
The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) is celebrating the first birthday of the Blood Donor Centre in The Centre, Livingston.
The site, which opened on Monday, August 2 2021 and is accessible to all West Lothian donors, has now welcomed more than 10,500 people.
As each donation can be split into three separate parts, (red cells, platelets, and plasma), this means the amazing people of West Lothian and beyond have saved or improved the lives of up to 31,500 patients.
This was the first time SNBTS opened a new donor centre for over 20 years and is the first of its kind outwith Scotland’s main five cities.
