Kelly and Riley reclined in parallel, sanitized chairs. The two each looked away from themselves, not worried about the needles in their arms, but no fan of them either. Their machines beeped and their donations ended simultaneously; they’ve given blood, quickly and painlessly. Both are type O-negative and regular donors.

A classic mother-son day for the Noonans.

Kelly Noonan, a graduate of the UW School of Law, and Riley Noonan, a current undergraduate at the UW, have donated together for years, a tradition that began in downtown Seattle one holiday season.
