The Robles are a testament to how the strength of family can carry you through difficult times. It has only been a few months since the Broadalbin family learned that their four-year old daughter, Portia, has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Since receiving the unexpected diagnosis, the power of family and friends has been a source of both comfort and strength for both Portia and the entire Robles family.

Family friend Alyssa Turo said shortly after Thanksgiving, Portia, who was born with Down Syndrome, was brought to her pediatrician for a rash. That rash quickly turned into testing that confirmed Portia’s diagnosis of ALL. Today, her parents Jessica and Javy are faced with a road of recovery based out of Albany Medical Center. Turo said Portia is currently at Albany Med, receiving three treatments every week. She said Portia will also most likely need blood transfusions due to low platelet counts. During Portia’s fight , Turo said Portia has not lost her infectious smile, her laugh and most importantly her will to fight.
