Trailyn Evans did not plan her birthday party based on prophetic omens, but its timing is proving fortuitous. Trailyn’s 17th birthday party blood drive Saturday will increase supplies of blood products needed in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
Trailyn has been giving blood for about a year, according to her mother, LaRena Evans. “She started donating last year just after she turned 16.”
While registering online for a gift card after donating blood, Trailyn noticed the option for hosting a birthday blood drive. “We talked about it,” said LaRena. “I thought it would be a really awesome idea.”
“We had the option to pick a location or have it done at the blood center,” LaRena said. “We chose to do it at our church because it’s a little more personal for us.”
