Thank you so much for your interest in telling The Gift your story of how a blood donation positively impacted your life.
Our mission is to share these stories so as to encourage others to consider making this life-saving “gift” themselves.
While we aren’t able to publish every story we receive, we read every story submitted and we will treat your story with the utmost respect for your privacy.
Story Submission Guidelines:
To be considered for publication, all submissions must contain:
1. Legal first and last name
2. Mailing Address
3. Phone number where we can contact you
4. Email address where we can contact you
5. Whether you prefer to remain anonymous – this means that if your story is chosen for publication either in our book or on our website, your name will not be listed and instead, the author name will be “Anonymous.”
6. A title for your story, if you have one. (If not, don’t worry)
7. Your story should be no more than 1,200 words
8. Please don’t include any details that you don’t want published. If there are things you wish to keep private, leave them out of your story.
9. Your story should be from the heart and about something that has happened to you or someone close to you. It does not need to be a professional essay. It must not be a work of fiction. Don’t worry about the actual writing – just tell us your story.
We only accept story submissions via our website: https://www.thegift.net/submit-your-story/. Stories submitted in other ways unfortunately cannot be considered for publication.
Please note that we do not offer any form of payment or royalties for use of your story. We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging blood donation. By submitting a story to The Gift, you acknowledge that you’ve read, understood and agree to be bound by all guidelines, terms and conditions.
Please be sure to take the time to read our full Submission guidelines, as well as our Terms and Conditions, before you submit a story.
