The old adage “It takes a village” holds true for blood donations. Kids, parents and Bozeman residents came together at Morning Star Elementary School on Thursday to make a difference.
3rd grader Caden is a remarkable young man who has battled cancer and received blood 35 times during treatment. He understands firsthand the importance of blood donations. Along with his mom, he decided to lead this effort to host a blood drive at his school.
“Give this blood to people who need it like people who had a surgery, they need extra blood so this is where it goes to,” Caden said.
“One of the reasons we decided to do this at an elementary school is that they’ve found the younger generations are not donating blood like older generations are so it’s a great way to teach kids about giving back in this way,” Event Organizer Pam Shrauger said.
