While still enjoying the glorious hues of fall colours, brisk mornings but still warm days, it may seem strange to be planning for the holiday season. But for many organizations in Nova Scotia, preparations began more than a month ago to get ready for what is one of their busiest times of the year.

Organizations involved in providing holiday help need to be prepared to meet the requests from Nova Scotians, many of them seniors, to assist with meals and gifts during the holidays.

For many people, preparation is the key to a stress-free holiday season so that they are able to spend time doing the things they love most, whether it be visiting family and friends, getting outdoors to enjoy chilly nights or sitting by a fire sipping hot chocolate. It is also a time when people are inspired to practice kindness by reaching out to those in need, whether a family member, friend, neighbour or a person or family they have never met.
