The Red Cross is holding a blood drive in honor of the late Sergeant Lamar Cromwell on Dec. 21 in North Charleston.

The Charleston native served in the U.S. Marine Corps for over 12 years and became an instructor at Parris Island. He and his wife were also part of a non-profit called Project Street Outreach, which works to provide homeless veterans with essential necessities.

“Lamar was very instrumental in his community, going above and beyond the call of duty,” said Denise Cromwell, Sergeant Cromwell’s widow. “Nothing could replace the loss of his presence but honoring him will help him live forever.”
