Barbara and Ilana Lazar have a “mother-daughter date night” every four months.
But it’s not at a restaurant or movie theatre. It’s at a blood donor centre.
Barbara, 68, has been donating blood every few months for more than half a century, and her daughter Ilana is following in her footsteps.
“I love that we can do it together, and it’s become our thing. … Our thing to do as mother-daughter is donate blood together,” Ilana said. “That’s our mother-daughter date night.”
Barbara, a North York resident and retired teacher, began volunteering at blood donor clinics as a young teen.
