A New Hampshire woman is sharing her story of survival after a serious car crash in an effort to encourage more people to donate blood.

Two years ago, Kristen Pedersen was nearly killed in a car crash, but she said she’s alive today thanks to blood donations.

On the evening of Jan. 13, 2020, Pedersen was on her way home from work, driving north on I-495 in Amesbury, Massachusetts, a route she took daily.

“A car crossed over the median and took me right off the road,” she said.

The car hit Pedersen’s in a head-on collision.

“I was trapped in my car for a while and with the help of others, got out and then was rushed to Portsmouth Hospital,” she said.
