One year to the day after finding out their five-year-old son, Ethan, had leukemia, Aseem and Tracy Mahajan helped draw new donors to a blood clinic Saturday at Branlyn Community Centre.

“Donating blood may not be a priority for many people now because there’s no need in their lives but there are people like Ethan where it’s a necessity and, without those transfusions, our son wouldn’t be alive today,” said Aseem.

One year ago, the Mahajans noticed strange bruising on Ethan’s legs and, on June 1, 2018, a blood test showed he has acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
