According to the American Red Cross, there’s always a need for regular blood supply in order to help secure transfusions for patients in need.

“If I didn’t have it, I wouldn’t see my kids,” said Mackinze Buschow.

She said she’s reminded everyday of how lucky she is.

“You don’t realize how important it is until you need it,” Buschow said.

About three years ago, she said she had a surgery gone wrong.

“I got my tubes tied and the doctor hit an artery. She didn’t know she did,” Buschow said.

It was a scary moment for the mother of three as she didn’t know if she would ever see her children again.
