Finding enough people to give blood in the summer months is often easier said than done. It’s why one blood drive is getting creative to draw more people in to help save lives.
The Community Blood Center partners with local VFWs and auxiliaries to set up a military theme as part of its annual MASH Blood Drive. Community Blood Center Vice President of Donor Services Kristine Belanger says the event doesn’t just help people who need blood — it’s also a way for the community to help some of our local veterans.
“For every donation that we receive, every blood donation we receive, a monetary donation is made to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight. And we’ve done this a few years, and have been honored to be able to help support a couple of veterans going on the trip of a lifetime,” Belanger explained.
