A local woman is being recognized for donating 20 gallons of blood over the past three decades.
85-year-old Mimi Rouse gave her 160th donation to the Community Blood Bank today. That’s 160 pints of blood since she started regularly donating in 1989.
Staff members surprised her with a celebration during their mobile blood drive in North East.
Mimi tells us, “It’s a goal that I made up my mind I wanted to do many years ago. I’m glad I reached it. And I just feel the need to donate blood.”
The Community Blood Bank estimates that Rouse’s donations have been used for more than 480 people.
