A local ice-cream truck is looking to draw a crowd for a good cause.
The R.E.M. Ice Cream Truck is teaming up with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks for a community blood drive from noon until 5 p.m., June 2, at the First Baptist Church in Forsyth, 10000 Missouri 76.
Cara Blevins, one of the organizers of the event, said the drive was inspired by seeing the stories of children who’s lives have been impacted by blood transfusions.
“One of the little girls, Mia, — you can find her Facebook page is ‘Mighty Mia’ — she has recently gone through her 20th blood transfusion,” Blevins said. “Their family has been struggling with the battle with cancer and we decided it would be a great opportunity to use our resources and pull together the community to a blood drive.”
