The 5-year-old son of a local deputy is battling leukemia and his father’s department is asking for help in supporting the family.

Barrow County Deputy Chris Parker and his family earned their 5-year-old son Keegan was diagnosed with B-Cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia earlier this month.

This type of leukemia means several blood transfusions and chemotherapy for Keegan over the next few years. The Barrow County Sheriff’s office is organizing a blood drive to encourage support for the family.

“Although Keegan is only 5 years old, he has already proven to be a strong and brave fighter,” the sheriff’s office wrote. “He has undergone numerous procedures since his diagnosis and his courage is remarkable.”
