Lonnie Kinzer celebrated big milestone Tuesday.

The Leesburg veteran has donated 100 gallons of blood over the course of 50 years. And in a special ceremony on Tuesday at the OneBlood Leesburg Donor Center, Kinzer was honored. To date, fewer than 300 Florida residents have reached this milestone.

With this achievement, Kinzer has helped save more than 3,000 lives.

“What it means is that I’m not only able to help people for whole blood, but I’m able to use those platelets to help cancer patients and bone marrow,” Kinzer said. “It will go on and on and for all age groups, from birth til death do us part.”
