A tiny Laredoan is the inspiration for a lifesaving event this weekend.

The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center and GenCure is holding a blood and marrow registry drive at Lazy Boy Tattoo on Saturday. The holiday drive is in honor of Laredo’s Bella Sanchez, a 2-year-old patient with leukemia.

Bella was diagnosed with leukemia when she was 7 months old. After her first cycle of treatments she went into remission, but recently relapsed. This time, Bella is not only needing blood transfusions, but also a lifesaving marrow transplant, STBTC said in a news release.
