After being diagnosed with neuroblastoma at age 2, J.R. Tell received multiple blood transfusions during his medical treatment.

Now 13 and cancer-free for 10 years, the Mattoon Middle School eighth-grader is a big proponent people giving blood to help those in medical need.

“J.R. understands the importance and encourages everyone to do it. He can’t wait until he is old enough to give blood himself,” said his mother, Dana Tell.
