IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe knew he’d want to say thank you if he met the blood donors who helped save him after a near-fatal crash at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

But when given the chance Wednesday, he struggled to find the words.

“Those that know me know I’m not often speechless,” he said, “but that was one of the most incredible things ever.”

Hinchcliffe was surprised Wednesday afternoon with a visit from two 21-year-old donors, Madelynn Guerra and Madison Mowry, as he was inducted into the American Red Cross Hall of Fame for his own activism around blood donation.
