Fremarek recently gave his 160th donation with Heartland Blood Centers for a total of 20 gallons since 1986. In fact, he’s received so many “thank you” gifts he stores them in a large bin.

Besides, 20 gallons is only what Fremarek has donated with Heartland. The story begins in 1970, when Fremarek worked for Sears.

“I started donating when they held their spring and fall blood drive,” Fremarek said. Fremarek has donated blood ever since.
