In honor of National Blood Donor Month and to remember two local heroes, the Glens Falls community came out to a blood drive at the Glens Falls YMCA.

It was organized in memory of Dave Strader and Ken Hand, both lost their life to a rare form of cancer. Hand’s 19-year-old daughter Stephanie set up the event.

Known in the community, Dave Strader was a local broadcaster and Ken Hands served in the Air Force.

Stephanie is now following in her father’s footsteps, she’s a cadet in the Air Force ROTC program at Siena College.

She’s planning to make the blood drive memorial an annual event.
