In a routine visit with her physician to prep for chemo, it was discovered that Munira’s organs were on the verge of shutting down. An emergency blood transfusion, made possible by donors, saved her life in the nick of time. Transfusions became a regular part of Munira’s blood cancer treatment and she can’t emphasize enough just how much donors mean to her.

“I feel those people with me. I know they are a part of me,” says Munira. “In times where all I saw was darkness, blood donors were the glimmer of light. They gave me hope for one more day.”

Thanks to the generosity of donors, Munira is not only surviving; she is thriving. Seeing her daughter graduate and spending time with her granddaughter are incredible gifts she thought she would certainly miss.
