A 2-year-old Florida girl in need of rare blood to survive has been matched with a fourth donor, but a worldwide search for more is still underway in order to save her life.

Zainab Mughal, who was diagnosed with the aggressive cancer neuroblastoma, is in need of blood transfusions and bone marrow transplants. But, to make matters more complicated, Zainab has one of the rarest blood types in the world.

The only donors statistically likely to be a match for Zainab are those of Pakistani, Indian or Iranian descent, according to nonprofit blood center OneBlood. That means a donor’s birth parents must both be 100-percent Pakistani, Indian or Iranian. Donors also must be blood type O or A.
