Dozens of blood donors rolled up their sleeves Wednesday to give the gift of life.

They were inspired by little three-year-old Amy Morkovsky who is battling leukemia.

“Blood is such a precious resource,” said Amy’s dad, Ryan Morkovsky. “It’s one that can often be taken for granted. Unlike most other resources that are more naturally occurring that we can harvest. This is a resource that entirely depends on the charitability of others. And without that, giving, and without that gift, we simply can’t gather it. There’s no other way to do that.”

Ryan explained although cancer takes so much, donating blood is a major way the community can help.
