People on the south side are stepping up to help a Greenwood mother who lost a child. This is the second year that Misty Welch decided to have a blood drive in honor of her son.
The Indiana Blood Center’s Greenwood location was full of families on Saturday. As they donated, they thought about Dalton Welch.
“I had him at 3 o’clock in the morning,” said Misty. “I didn’t see him until 7 am. He was life-lined at noon.”
That was back in August, about a year and a half ago. Misty’s baby’s brain was hemorrhaging and when he made it to Riley, he needed blood.
“If it wasn’t for the blood products, he wouldn’t have even had a chance at all,” said Misty. “That’s why it’s so important.”
