A local family is thanking the community and doing what they can to keep their son’s legacy alive.

We first told you about a brave Buckeye fan, Matthew Offers, Jr. in 2018.

That’s when then Ohio State University Football Coach Urban Meyer and wife Shelley visited him as he was fighting for his life at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Sadly, he died shortly after.

“I said this during his funeral, and I will say this again today, this 9-year-old met and made people smile just from your standard person on the street all the way to Coach Urban Meyer,” said his father Matthew Offers.
