Angela Kendall had never received a blood transfusion until she needed a life-saving procedure hours after the birth of her daughter. Now, she hopes to organize one of largest blood drives ever in the county.
Kendall developed a postpartum hemorrhage six hours after giving birth and was rushed into a life-saving, emergency surgery. After multiple blood transfusions, Kendall’s condition stabilized.
She said she was acutely aware those blood transfusions saved her life and is now helping organize what she hopes will be one of the largest blood drives in Ashtabula County history.
“I thought I could use this trauma,” Kendall said. “(Use) it to do something good for the county.”
