Raymond Young, 74, first started giving blood decades ago.

This month, he received a medal and certificate signed by Millie Banerjee, chairwoman of the NHS Blood and Transplant department, to mark his incredibly milestone of donations.

Mr Young said: “I first started giving blood 30 years ago because my wife encouraged me to. I’m healthy so can keep on doing it, I enjoy it and it is good to help others in any way.
