A dad has thanked hospital staff for saving his daughter’s life after finding out she had a severe heart condition while in her mum’s womb.
Chris Dean was left shocked when scans last year found his daughter’s heart was abnormally enlarged.
Doctors quickly diagnosed little Imogen with fetal anaemia, a condition which means there is an inadequate number of red blood cells in an unborn baby.
The rare condition can lead to many complications, and if severe, the heart tries to overcome the condition by pumping harder, which can lead to heart failure while the baby was still in the womb.
Southville dad Chris said: “She was off-the-scale anaemic, she would have died if they didn’t start treatment straight away.
