Canadian Blood Services wants people to give in honour of a young boy in Chester.
Ten-year-old Sean needed several transfusions after he was diagnosed with a form of leukemia last year.
Director of Donor Relations, Peter MacDonald says sometimes people don’t recognize the impact a bag of blood can have.
“When people donate blood, it’s an anonymous act. So, to be able to put a face on the act of blood donation and to have the community rally around Sean, it will be an important day at the legion in Chester on Monday.”
MacDonald says a cancer patient can use the blood of up to eight donors on a weekly basis.
