The American Red Cross is urging eligible donors of all blood types to make a donation during Trauma Awareness Month.

Each year, trauma accounts for roughly 41 million emergency department visits and 2.3 million hospital admissions in the United States, the Red Cross said in a news release. A single car accident victim can need up to 100 units of blood.
