A long-time community blood drive coordinator has been nationally recognized for her decades of work on the Iron Range.
Jan Moore of Aurora, Minnesota, recently received the Larry Frederick Award, which is a national honor through America’s Blood Centers.
The award highlights an individual’s long-time dedication to the importance of blood donation.
Moore has served her community and motivated other residents to become life-long donors for 23 years until just recently retiring from her role.
Leaders with Memorial Blood Centers nominated Moore for the award, saying in part: “Jan Moore has been a blood drive chairperson and advocate for Memorial Blood Centers and blood donation for the last 23 years. She organizes six blood drives per year and brings in a total of 350 units annually. Jan is one of those people who when she sets her mind on something, it truly gets done. There is no hurdle too large for Jan to overcome… Living in a rural area Jan might not be able to influence thousands of people directly, but she has made life-long blood donors over the past two decades that will ripple through for generations to come.”
