Sarah Buelow has seen firsthand the impact blood transfusions have on a person’s well-being.

Her daughter, 12-year-old Allison Petrusczak passed away last month after a battle with brain cancer.

She was diagnosed last year and given a one-year prognosis. While Petrusczak fought past the prognosis, she died on February 20, 2022.

The blood drive was a project Petrusczak worked on with Buelow and on Friday she carried out her daughters plan.

“Before transfusion, she (Petrusczak) would be lethargic and she would be the completely wrong color a human should be,” Buelow said. “Then right after the transfusions she was eating, she was pink healthy and right back to her old Allison self.”
