Bower, a Bracebridge resident, woke one night in February to terrible pain, but she and her husband had hosted guests for a dinner party complete with rich foods the evening before, so it was dismissed as indigestion.
“I thought ‘Oh, God, I’ve eaten all the wrong things,” she said.
But the pains continued and her sister urged her to see her doctor.
Soon she was admitted to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge, and then transferred to Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket for a quadruple bypass.
