In March 2017 Amelia Iverson suffered a near-fatal birth complication requiring massive amounts of blood transfusions. In total, she received 61 units, which replaced all the blood in her body approximately six times.
Now Iverson wants to give back and make sure there is enough blood for others who need it.
“Without blood donors, my baby boy would have never known me,” Iverson said.
Her business, Amelia’s Esthetics at Bombshell Salon in Elk River, is sponsoring a blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at the salon, located at 18857 Freeport St. in Elk River.
All donors get a free wax or tint service. Hair products will be 25 percent off July 23-28.
