A family full of voluntary blood donors, that’s what Lokendra and his family of four will soon become within a couple of years. Lokendra and his wife Sheela have been donating blood since 2002 and have attained a record number of 58 and 56 times respectively upto the last Blood Donation Camp held on March 19, 2018 which was organised by Voluntary Donors’ Group, Manipur and sponsored by the State Blood Cell, National Health Mission, Manipur at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal. Their young son Malemnganba is also joining the family’s tradition and has donated blood five times.
Hailing from Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak, Imphal West, Elangbam Lokendra Singh is the son of late Elangbam Ibotombi Singh and Elangbam Ongbi Laishram Ningol Kunjabati. He is working as an optician at Deva Optical Centre, Keishampat. He is the fifth child from amongst six children, three brothers and two sisters. Married in the year 1998 to Paonam Ningol Sheela Devi, daughter of late Paonam Thambou and Paonam Ongbi Inaobi Devi, the couple were blessed with a son and a daughter named Malemnganba and Inungnganbi.
